Business and Charity

What does living in a capitalist country mean? Capitalism is a system of government in which the free market, bartering and ingenuity of individual's resolves economic issues.

Frequently, people looking for the lowest price want free. Yet free implies working without getting paid. I suppose good looks and being nice is great for making friends; however, apartment owners and manufactures want money, so if your service is intellectual property, such as: music, art, writing or film giving away your own or other people's work does not equal getting paid.

Some people are ahead of the game. They give away something free to get something in return. Promotional songs for bands are on the radio, so people will buy CDs and MP3s. Sometimes people require a sample before they buy it, because they work for companies who pay them an hourly wage so they can provide a product or service.

Awhile ago it was fun making mix tapes for a loved one or friend. Now people are placing mixed tapes all over the internet. The copyright states the CD is not for resale. It also states the music should not be reproduced. Now musicians may decline permission to use their copyright or gain a percentage of income from video uploads.

There is something seriously wrong with people. People seem to be in some kind of entitlement induced state similar to drug use. Theft reduces the value of all music, art, writing and film. The free market is failing because even artists are communists. It is not your right, no matter how big of a fan or how much a band influenced your life to upload all their music onto a website. There is a "favorites" button.

Stop participating in involuntary charity. Many sites allow people to do as they want, download whatever, make up false accounts, leave all responsibility with the artists and walk away from any potential lawsuits by saying we do not have any restrictions or there is no way to enforce this. It's the internet. Consumers should start finding originators of songs or make sure originators are given credit for their work. Musicians, artists, writers and filmmakers need to have some self-respect and stop giving everything away for free.

I know it is difficult for people starting out. Select a promotional song or clip to promote selling product. Start marketing product with a method to pay people who work for you. I wrote about the "community" (communist) effort in Salt Lake City; wherein, directors do not know how to make money. Since they cannot make money themselves, they do not pay the actors in their films either. (I bet they paid video camera manufacture. Manufactures stop making equipment when no one will buy it.)

This isn't a Right-to-Work verses Union-State issue. This is reality of living in a free market country and respect. It does not respect anyone; including, yourself when engaging in this activity. Stop learning cover songs for bars. Just say, "You're an inconsiderate a**," if bar owner thinks their customers like songs they've already heard over something original. Bar owners might start hiring bands with original music. Stop going to sites that won't let you link back to your paid blog, YouTube Partners account or PayPal site where you can actually make money. Do not reward people who are only concerned about themselves.

Business is about making money and sharing opportunities so everyone gets paid for effort (work). It is about circulating money. Those doing the best they can get the most money. Charity is a system for helping those who cannot help themselves, so stop being helpless because it is ugly (in a free market system idealizing capitalism).
