The World of Bland

"If you want to truly be rich, recognize the virtue of making your own choices versus doing what is expected or what everyone else is doing." Think like a Billionaire by Donald Trump

This is a truthful business and personal concept. In "Think like a Billionaire" Donald Trump discusses the importance of knowing facts about interests. Whether a glass of champagne, drink of whiskey or hamburger knowing the socially classified best makes a person knowledgeable, yet knowing personal tastes makes a person happy and able to experience wealth everyday regardless of money.

Often people base life on what is popular until industries are overran with similar products and services. Many people agree on following the money; however, it is a short term fix. Think about all the pizza places in town. Eventually, some rise while others fall. People who were popular in the past are outdone by competition. Overtime only a handful of pizza places are able to make enough money to stay in business.

Being your own person is a gratifying experience. I remember in college we were compelled by the ideas of other people's opinion of "best." Then one evening feeling a lack of interest in continuing on with my education I was listening to the CD I bought at the store. Holding and looking at it, it wasn't classy. It was vulgar with biting lyrics, bubbly music, weird puns and negative opinions about society. Everyone agrees on some level it is unclothe, yet it was in my hand.

With this I realized other people will enjoy what I enjoy above other products because it is personal and speaks to them. This means whatever I create; someone will truly appreciate it and avoid falling into the World of Bland.

The World of Bland was created by statisticians and trend marketers. They said, "Make a love song. It should be melodic and follow a rhythm that makes people happy." Everyone knew they would be rich and this made all the statisticians and trend marketers wealthy. Unfortunately, when music lovers were faced with many similar options people only bought the CDs from the ones who were excellent at reproducing the sound of successful people who already believed love songs should be melodic and happy.

Any song I have ever thought of playing at my wedding has an underlying edge that doesn't sound "right." These lines were never written by Shakespeare. Though it isn't a "perfect love" it sounds like love to me.

Liking is great. To actually sell anything products must have value to the customer. Loving something is far better. Everyone always states their product is the best. Why would anyone make something they don't enjoy? Avoid being bland and enrich life with truly enjoyable and satisfying stimuli. Trump also states, "If you deserve to be promoted, you will be."
